Why nasal breathing can transform your well-being (and how to start today)

Breathing. It's something so simple and automatic… that we often forget to do it properly. At ZenFlow, we believe that good breathing is the first step towards true well-being , both physical and mental. And the most natural—and powerful—way to do it is through nasal breathing .

Nasal breathing and well-being: much more than oxygen

When we breathe through our nose, the air is filtered, humidified, and warmed before reaching the lungs. But we also activate mechanisms that improve oxygenation, reduce stress, and balance the nervous system .

Breathing through your nose helps to:

  • Sleep better and snore less
  • Regulate heart rate
  • Improve concentration and athletic performance
  • Promote a sense of calm and mental clarity

We experience it ourselves every day: both during training and during rest or meditation, breathing through the nose changes our energy .

Basic Breathwork : How to Start Today

What is breathwork ? It's the conscious practice of controlling and directing your breath to improve physical, mental, and emotional balance. Through various techniques, it helps reduce stress, increase energy, and connect you with the present moment.

There's no need to overcomplicate things. You can start with something as simple as:

  1. Close your mouth and breathe slowly through your nose for 1 minute.
  2. Notice how your abdomen moves (not your chest).
  3. Exhale gently through your nose as well.
Repeat this exercise several times a day: before going to sleep, upon waking up, or right before training.

How to breathe better through your nose?

Practice every day, maintain good nasal hygiene, and avoid breathing through your mouth while resting.

Why is it hard to sleep with a blocked nose?

Because the body seeks oxygen quickly through the mouth, which disrupts sleep quality and increases stress.
